I'm a production executive at ITV, I work in the non-scripted department for ITV studios. I work with the entertainment development team which means that I budget their ideas once there's a spark of interest from somewhere I work with them to get together all of the figures, which is quite interesting because it's working on programmes that absolutely haven't been seen before, so I get first look at what we're up to which is great. I also work with the global entertainment formats consultant, assist her in getting the formats information out to the various companies that decide to make our formats, not just our own production companies but our formats get sold all over the world. We've also just sent somebody out to China a couple of times because there's a Chinese version of 'Surprise Surprise' which is in production at the moment. I came in on a three month contract and I've just enjoyed the people that I've worked with - it is the people that make the difference here.
ITV Studios
NATALIE London
ITV Studios is the largest and most successful commercial production company in the country. We produce Britain’s longest running soap, Coronation Street, and reality TV like Dancing on Ice, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here and Come Dine with Me. Plus Drama favourites like Lewis and Poirot as well as newer dramas like Vera and Marchlands.
But these shows don’t make themselves, there’s an army of talented professionals behind the scenes pulling it all together. Some of ITV’s TV Production Jobs range from technical and post-production roles like Floor Managers and Editors to administrative and management staff- not forgetting the people who originate ideas. It covers a lot more than that though – we’re talking about talented music teams, award-winning Script Writers and live production teams who are always on the ball.
But we don’t just make award-winning programmes for audiences at home. Our original productions are made for UK and international markets alike. And working to get those ideas from studio to screen is our Global Entertainment team. With offices in London, Cologne, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney, they take care of everything from international TV distribution and home-entertainment to publishing, merchandising and licensing.
They deal with over 1,000 product lines, 3,000 plus Home Entertainment titles and more than 35,000 hours of original and formatted programming from both ITV Studios and leading independent producers. So a job here is about building solid relationships that get the best, latest programmes on to our viewers screens – all over the world. The variety is immense and, for the right person, the opportunities are endless.
Whatever way you look at it, whether you’re at home or abroad ITV Studios is an exciting, challenging area to work in. You can find out more about the work they do by following this link to ITV Studios, or this one to Global Entertainment.
